F. Della Notte, introduces 21st century amateur sleuths Father Melvyn Kronkey and his trusted, but audacious housekeeper, Samuela Buonafigliula, known to everyone as Mrs. B.  A shocking calamity pulls them into a quagmire of envy, greed and revenge through a cat that ignites a long simmering feud between two old women, into much more than murder.

Under the hands-on guidance of its pastor, and with the assistance of his trusted housekeeper, St. Francis de Sales hums along, meeting the demands of a growing parish and the start of Lent. On the first day of this most solemn period, murder and mayhem are unleashed;  Father Melvyn and Mrs. B. find themselves in a dangerous situation while trying to protect the innocent and the reputation of their church.
